Job reference: 842551 Location: 5000 - ADELAIDE Job status: Long Term Contract Eligibility: Open to Everyone We have an opportunity for a Industry Engagement and Capability Officer – Apiary Biosecurity to be part of our Biosecurity Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions. This role plays a key part in coordinating, planning and delivering industry engagement activities that support Varroa mite management across South Australia. As a member of the PIRSA Apiary Unit , you will help build the capability and resilience of the beekeeping, apiary and pollination‑reliant industries to manage and prepare for Varroa mite challenges. You will lead the development and implementation of stakeholder engagement and communication strategies, and design, coordinate and deliver training and education programs for commercial and recreational beekeepers, the broader apiary sector, and industries dependent on pollination. The role also provides practical advice on hive health monitoring and all aspects of Varroa mite management. This position contributes directly to the agency’s priorities by supporting the management of Varroa mite and other apiary pests and diseases that pose risks to South Australia’s agricultural and horticultural industries. Your work will help deliver education and extension services that reduce pest and disease threats, protect crop productivity, safeguard natural environments, and support the long‑term wellbeing of our communities and primary industries.
