Join a team applying climate science to real-world coastal planning, resilience and adaptation. Working alongside the Senior Climate Data Analyst, you'll transform complex climate and coastal datasets into meaningful insights that support evidence-based decision-making across government.

What you'll do:

  • Analyse climate and coastal datasets to support hazard assessments and planning
  • Integrate climate projections with monitoring data to deliver actionable insights
  • Develop and maintain high-quality spatial data layers and analytical products
  • Apply Python, GIS and data analysis tools to solve complex environmental challenges
  • Ensure data quality, consistency and accessibility across datasets
  • Create reports, visualisations and technical outputs for diverse audiences
  • Support coastal management, resilience and adaptation initiatives across South Australia

You're a technically skilled analyst with experience in spatial data, coding and data-driven problem solving. You enjoy turning complex information into practical solutions and are motivated by contributing to climate resilience and sustainable coastal management.

Contract:
Two year contract

Essential Qualifications:
A Degree in natural science, computer science, GIS, or engineering disciplines that include climate change or coastal processes.

Special Conditions:

  • May be required to participate in responses to state emergencies or associated duties.
  • You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or provide evidence that you hold a valid working visa that allows you to work in Australia without restrictions.
  • Prior to being employed, the successful candidate will be required to provide a valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC), which is required to be renewed every three years. DEW will cover the cost of renewal. 
  • May be required to undertake intra or interstate travel, occasional overnight absences, and work outside of the normal hours of work.

A successful applicant who is not currently employed by the Department for Environment and Water will be required to have an original photo identification document sighted and provide a valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) issued within the last 12 months.

Remuneration: 
PO2 $91,565 min - $106,074 max p.a.
