Role Details

The Research Officer, Repatriation works with the Aboriginal Heritage and Repatriation Manager to provide high level support and advice that supports the repatriation activities in the Humanities section and is required to work autonomously within the broad guidelines of the position. The Research Officer, Repatriation is responsible for specific major aspects of social science/historical archival research, including preparation of reports that socially contextualise the removal of Aboriginal ancestral remains from original burial locations, coordination of research by Aboriginal community members and training and mentorship of these community based Aboriginal researchers. The Research Officer, Repatriation will contribute specialised skills and detailed knowledge of Aboriginal and colonial history of South Australia to the preparation of reports and plans for the repatriation of Aboriginal ancestral remains held at the South Australian Museum. The role manages highly sensitive information, some of which may be protected by privacy laws, the State Records Act 1997 and/or the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1988

Special Conditions
  • The Incumbent will be required to participate in the department's Performance Management Program.
  • The Incumbent may be assigned to another position at this remuneration level or equivalent.
  • This role requires a National Criminal History check.

$98,478 - $104,165 p.a.
