The
Opportunity
We have an
exciting opportunity for 4 casual Quarantine Station Inspectors to
join our Biosecurity Division within the Department of Primary
Industries and Regions.
As a first
line of defence for produce, stock and machinery entering South
Australia, you will play an important role in protecting our state
from pests and diseases and helping safeguard our primary
industries, environment and communities.
How
You'll Make a Difference
As a
Quarantine Station Inspector, you will:
- Deliver
effective inspection services for vehicles entering South
Australia, ensuring plant material, animals, machinery and soil
meet South Australia’s entry requirements and taking
appropriate action where non-compliance is
identified.
- Provide
quarantine services as a first line of defence for produce,
stock and machinery entering South Australia, helping to
protect South Australia from pests and diseases.
- Enforce
relevant Acts and legislation, identify and report
non-compliance and record evidence for breaches of quarantine
requirements where required.
- Be a
professional and welcoming face of South Australia for
travellers, providing sound information and maintaining a high
level of customer orientation while conducting inspections
confidently and respectfully.
- Monitor
movements, gather and report intelligence and ensure
documentation and reporting is up-to-date, accurate and timely,
helping strengthen South Australia’s state-wide quarantine
services.
- Work
collaboratively with colleagues, Police and other agencies to
support effective quarantine operations and contribute to
securing production through biosecurity and protecting South
Australia’s economy, environment, communities and human
health.

Special
Conditions
- Successful applicant
will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police
Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of
employment.
- Australian residency or
current work permit is required (responsibility of applicant to
provide evidence of a current work permit).
- 4 casual
opportunities are available for a 6-month period, working
irregular hours.
- Opportunities include 3
positions at Yamba and 1 position at Ceduna.
Requirements
- Possession of a current
driver’s licence and willingness to drive.
- The
Quarantine Station at Yamba and Ceduna operates 24 hours a day
7 days a week for the entire year.
- Must be
available to work within rostered hours.
- Inter /
intrastate travel may be required.

expectations
Remuneration
OPS2 - $33.96
min - $35.53 max per hour, plus a 25% casual loading and plus
superannuation
