Following my undergraduate degree in Business (Property), I spent ten years in the commercial property sector. After undertaking an MBA, I was keen to move into a leadership and change management role and fortunately, a position arose within the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure that enabled me to utilise these skills as well as my property expertise.
Following a project that broadened my understanding of the Department’s range of services, I joined the Office of the Chief Executive and was elevated to a Director role.
I may arrive with a ‘to do list’ but ultimately, it comes down to the key priorities of the Minister and the Chief Executive on the day. It could be anything from preparing a Cabinet Submission, meeting with our senior executives, communicating with the ministerial officers, working on our business strategy or developing a future policy position.
I love that I can see the tangible impact my work has on the community. I also enjoy working with inspiring leaders who encourage and support me to be my authentic self.
I am particularly passionate about the growth of South Australia and how our sector can find ways to be more effective while delivering core services to enable better outcomes for our community.
The public sector touches all aspects of our community and at the heart of this is the desire to make South Australia a better place. There are many employment options to support individual lifestyles and circumstances. I am especially proud that the public sector is such a genuinely inclusive workplace.
I am a born and bred South Australian and I have experienced significant career growth, which has meant I have not needed to look outside of the State. I have an amazing lifestyle - living and working in the city, and I am proud to see the State continue to grow and develop.
